Author biographies

Veronika Kalmus

Kalmus VeronikaVeronika Kalmus is a Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Social Studies, University of Tartu, Estonia. Her research focuses on socialization, inter-generational relationships, media use and cultural values. She leads several research projects, including “Generations and inter-generational relations in the emerging information society,” and participates in the project EU Kids Online. She has published extensively in international journals and collections, including Childhood, Children & Society, Discourse & Society, and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication.

Kjartan Ólafsson

Author photo Kjartan Ólafsson is a lecturer at the University of Akureyri in Iceland and a researcher at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. He was a member of the International Advisory Panel of the EU Kids Online II project and was active in designing the methodologies used in that project. He has also been involved in other cross-national comparative projects on children (ESPAD – European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs, and HBSC – Health Behaviour in School-aged Children). He is the author of several reports and articles based on data collected in the EU Kids Online study (see: www.eukidsonline.net).
